This walk will be approx. 1 mile out and back, mostly flat (2 mi. round trip), on a paved path and an unpaved trail along the Bear Creek Greenway from near Pine St. to Table Rock Rd. We will visit a small pond used by Western Pond Turtles. This species has recently been proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Along the way we will listen and look for turtles and birds, visit Elk Creek, a tributary of Bear Creek, see the impacts and recovery from the 2020 fire, discuss functioning riparian areas, and a planned park on this section of Bear Creek. This event is appropriate for age 8 and older but not wheel-chair accessible.
