There are so many reasons to become a River Protector and member of Rogue Riverkeeper. To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we picked our top ten. But you really just need one!
The Rogue River is AMAZING! You probably agree which is why you are reading this. Protecting and restoring the Rogue is at the very core of our mission.
We helped successfully protect the Rogue and 24,000 miles of rivers across Oregon from suction dredge mining in 2017 after working for years to finalize permanent protections under state law.
With partners and folks across the state, we’ve kept the Jordan Cove LNG export project out of Oregon with a successful FERC and DEQ denial!
This year, we successfully protected 146 miles of streams that flow into the lower Rogue as Wild & Scenic under the Oregon Wildlands Act!
Every summer, volunteers collect and test water quality at more than 20 sites along the Rogue, Bear Creek, the Applegate, and the Illinois to let you know where it’s safe to swim and recreate each summer. Know before you go by checking our Swim Guide.
In 2011, we identified pollution sources in Ashland Creek and continue to work with the City to implement projects that will reduce pollution.
We host a sold-out film fest in the valley each November to celebrate the Rogue and our amazing community!
In 2012, with volunteers we marked every storm drain in Ashland to increase awareness in our community that anything that goes in the storm drain goes straight into our creeks and, ultimately, into the Rogue.
Every year, we host events that connect you with the river and our community of river protectors, from salmon walks in the fall to our winter/spring speaker series.
Did we mention the Rogue is amazing? Our community of members and supporters who LOVE the Rogue and support our work to protect it is more than 400 strong.
