Water Quantity

Stream flows, groundwater and increasing demand

Document Actions

Water quality is a concern in the Rogue Basin, as is water quantity. Salmon and other aquatic species need healthy stream flows in order to successfully spawn, eat, migrate and otherwise perform vital functions. The more water we withdrawal for human consumption and irrigation, the less water remains instream to satisfy aquatic functions for fish and other species.

As the human population grows in the Rogue Basin, there is more pressure placed on freshwater supplies, both surface flow and groundwater. Conservation and responsible use of water resources is critically important, as is maintaining and increasing stream flows when possible.
