Suction Dredge Reform Passes Senate - Help Say Thanks!

Suction dredge mining on Althouse Creek.

Thank State Senators for supporting the Suction Dredge Reform bill!

On Monday, April 10th, the Oregon Senate in a show of bipartisan support voted 21-9 to pass the Suction Dredge Reform bill (SB 3-A Engrossed).

This legislation will permanently prohibit suction dredge mining in Oregon streams that support sensitive salmon and lamprey. This type of recreational gold mining can kill young fish and fish eggs, smother spawning gravel, and stir up legacy mercury.

Help us thank State Senator Alan DeBoer (R-Ashland) in the Rogue watershed and the bill’s champions, Senator Dembrow (D-Portland) and Senate President Courtney (D-Salem), for supporting the Suction Dredge Reform bill!
